Introduction of the idea iteration

After ending the seminar “sweet dreams are made of this”. We further developed our idea towards the direction of exploring the misogyny phenomenon in our current society. We are interested in researching the causes and effects of the misogyny phenomenon under historical and cultural environments. Moreover, we tend to explore the possible field which allows us as designers or as the members inside of the design industry to reflect on our bias and privilege and act on it.

20 ways of description & the outcomes

With the exercise “20 ways of description”, we try to figure out where is our standpoint inside of this grand proposition. We developed several points and roughly categorise them. With the help of our mentor, we are inclined to the idea of reflecting the misogyny phenomenon on the design process and majorly target the design industry.

Topic Area & the outcomes

The outcomes of the ‘Topic Area’ exercise were helpful to a reflective extent. Here, we took time to set out key terms of interests and realise our ambitions for the BA project. We narrowed down to 3 key objectives that is to:

  1. Set our main topic of interest,
  2. Hypothesise potential medium of expression,
  3. Explore existing relevant projects.

Once all three aspects were discussed, we set out a matrix that grounded our interests and essentially helped us see both the bigger picture and a more narrowed focus direction. At this stage, we find ourselves interested in developing a well-researched, feasible and long-lasting solution. As we previously stated in our initial core value, at this phase, we aim to create a pragmatic tool-kit for the designers community in the step towards designing beyond misogynistic restraints.
